If I Were To Jump Into The Book...

If you could "jump" into the book right now what would you do in the story and why?

If I was to jump inside the book at this very moment, the part i'm at right now I would be telling Dan (the moms new boyfriend... soon to be husband) about how the mom has another child  and by putting me into Dylan's shoes i would speak up and say that the other child is me. I'm not their cousin i'm their brother. Tell Dan that my OWN mother threw me out onto the streets like I meant nothing to her and expected me to be able to handle and look after myself when I bet she knows how dangerous the streets are and the worst place in the world. Tell him that she basically disowned me as her child by calling me a cousin to my own brothers and kicked me out of the house because I was nothing but "trouble" to her and being kicked out got me kicked out of school so I could not finish up my education now and not to mention that my brothers are were not born with the same dad. I would say so much more even though I know that doing so could get me into so much trouble but I couldn't care much because I would think that Dan would need to know the truth sooner or later either from mom or if I had to tell him myself. After that little scene I would do exactly what Dylan did, I would storm out of the house leaving the front door open and back to living on the streets until I could possibly find my Grandpa.

If Only I Could

If you could "jump" into your book right now what would you do in the story and why?

If  I could jump into Theories of Relativity right now I would really want to go rescue Dylan, Micha and Jordan. They are helpless kids that deserve to have someone truly love and care for them. Right know their mother isn’t doing a real good job of that. She gets drunk, high and is on her 4th husband. She obviously does not have her children’s best interest in mind. Also letting her oldest son Dylan live on the streets. You think she would go get him after a week or two. But she just lets him suffer through it. Why would anyone ever do that? I personally believe she is not fit to be a mother. Having Dylan basically take care of Micha and Jordan himself. Now that Dylan is not living with them I wonder how they are doing at home? I would go and adopt them as my own kids and take care of them the way they should be taken care of. I know that if I where in their situation I would feel neglected and unloved.  Micha, Jordan and Dylan all should have a chance at a fair and loving life. They need to be nutured, but yet taught and guided. If I could hop into the story I would help give them what they deserve!         ~Chelsea

You Don't Have To Be Like The Rest

I think we had a pretty good converstaion today! We really got talking about Dylan character. How he is more of a leader then a follower. He doesn`t have to do stuff just because all the other kids who are living on the streets are.  Also how other people living on the streets like Vulture, will use you and not care whats so ever about what he does to you. Where as Dylan is kind hearted and would feel bad if he ever did something wrong to you. He wouldn't want to ever hurt you or use you. He is a genuine person as our group said! I hope Dylan will stay this way throughout the entire book and not stoop down to Vulture's level. Vulture keeps asking Dylan to work for him like Jenna and others. But Dylan keeps turing him down. Knowing that Vulture is using him and will stab him in the back. Do you think Dylan may give into Vulture and join him to make money once it starts getting very cold? He is a smart kid and I really hope he will make it off the streets!        --Chelsea

Just a Theory

Theory's of Relativity  is a new novel i'm reading... i'm not very far in it, but come to think about it I decided to blog about something which started to make me wonder and also what I think of the book so far. Personally, I Really really enjoy this novel because it is very deep and very powerful. The author can really make you feel like your the character and picture what it could be like on the streets. In the real world lots of teenagers go through this situation and know that it is hard and dangerous to be on the street. As I read the novel I think to myself can Dylan  stay the same like he is now? Careful, Smart and Friendly. I wonder after all the things he goes through and the people he meets and sees on the street... can he keep up with his attitude to be able to stay away from Drugs, Prostitution etc.  I can not wait to read and finish my novel!

Getting Yourself A Good Life

The main character Dylan has definitely faced some struggles so far. His mother has kicked him out of the house and he is living on the streets homeless. To over come this major struggle Dylan is facing, he is trying to get a job. So that he could start making a steady stream of money. Therefore being able to eat when ever he is hungry and save up enough to get a place of his own to live in. Dylan has not been successful yet but he is still trying to get  a job and get out of the rut he is in. I am not very far into Theories of Relativity but the main message I am getting so far is that when you get down on your luck you don't have to turn to alcohol, drugs, prostitution and terrible things. If you work hard you can make something good out of the bad. You can get a good life. It may not always come easy but you can get out of your troubled times if you put your mind to it. ~Chelsea

A different view;

I've recently just finished reading the book 'Theories of Relativity." and just let me say, I've almost never been so absolutely engaged in a book for so long.
While reading this book on the bus, and at home. I started to see things quite a bit differently, maybe it was the fact that I'd just had a glimpse of another world, or maybe the other world hitched a ride back on me. Either way, I don't think I could look at the underside of a bridge, an alleyway, or a church the same again, just the thought of those kids makes me quite sad, but also quite proud to think that some of the people in their teen aged years can make it like Dylan could.
The book gives you knowledge of his story, and a bit of a background to build his character on. Yet, it doesn't bore you by telling you his whole life store within a few pages. It's a beautifully written book on the more tragic side of city's and life that no one really sees.
There's so many children and teenagers on the street now a days. They're so scared and confused, yet so determined to not need anyone and make it on their own.  Personally, I've met, and seen teenagers like this, and I've always offered my help if needed, but even reaching out to each other is something that is extremely hard to do for them and us, and taking it from someone you barely know is something frightening. Doubt is always a first thing on their mind, as explained in the book. After being deceived for so long, it becomes your second nature, then slowly replaces it as your first.
You learn to adjust your view on people, and what goes on around them. Most are able to spot a dangerous situation from a mile away, and it's their choice if they want to run, or to keep going.

I've also read another few books in the same sort of genre, and these always seem to captivate me more then the books without problems and less real situations.
Theses are the most emotional, heart breaking and relate able stories/books out there. There's always been a time in our lives that we've just wanted to run away, and never come back. These are the stories of the ones who did it, and who knows, maybe it isn't all bad out there on your own. Difficult, but not all bad...

Beaten And Abandoned!!

Dylan was walking all on his own though alleys with no body when he saw Jenna walking he caught up to her and opened her hand found out that she pulling tricks to make money. They started argueing Dylan said " I told you he'd have you on the streets, didn't I?" Then Jenna started to cry which led her to telling Dylan to leave. As he was leaving Lurch or known as Brendan and his friends came up to Dylan then they started tro beat him up which left him BEATEN AND ABANDONED!!
